Answer Frames
Use the answer frames to model a good response and with your struggling readers and ELLs. The answer frame is temporary. Tell students: Today you may use the answer frame, and you may also use it tomorrow. But, by _, I expect you to be able to write an answer to this question all by yourself on a blank piece of paper.
Note: You will also likely not make copies of these, but have them posted as anchor charts. The strategy for reading and writing can be an anchor chart. The answer frame is then modeled on chart paper. Student can then copy from a chart the frame and complete on paper.

Sheltered Content English Instruction

The major instructional approach used to make content in English language arts, math, science, and social studies is sheltered English instruction. Below are resources that support implementation of sheltered English instruction within the structured English immersion program.

Sheltered English Instruction Walk-Thru Tool.pdf (This tool was developed by the DESE to outline specifically the elements that would be present in a structured English immersion classroom.)
