Allwords.com (Has an online dictionary that does a multilingual search that children who are learn English as a second language will find very useful. "Links for Word Lovers" will take you to all kinds of resources for information and word play.)
Little Explorers English Picture Dictionary (Each of the 2,472 words has a picture and definition. The site has picture dictionaries in multiple languages)
Thesaurus.com (This site has a thesaurus, a dictionary, an encyclopedia, and a word of the day in English and Spanish.)

Dr. Kinsella has done some fabulous work on developing academic vocabulary and language. She structures dicussion in partners by giving students scaffolds for their responses. By scaffolding their responses, she is modeling academic language and vocabulary usage.
